The way the story questions human ethics in survival situations is intense. I wonder what inspired her to use aliens as a mirror for our own moral dilemmas.

The aliens seem both threatening and compassionate at different moments, which made me question who the real monsters are. Am I the only one who found myself sympathizing with them?
