The planet and artifact designs felt so immersive — I wonder if Frederik Pohl envisioned them from the start or developed them as he wrote.

The mix of exploration and tension kept me hooked, but I’m curious if others found the pacing slow or just right for building atmosphere.

The way the characters gamble with their lives for discovery raised some deep questions about human nature and ambition.
