Infinite Jest

Infinite Jest is known for its complex, non-linear structure. I wonder what inspired the decision to weave so many characters and storylines together this way.

The footnotes sometimes felt like their own mini-essays, adding depth but also making the reading experience intense. Did others find this enriching or exhausting?

For me, the exploration of addiction and entertainment hit close to home, but I struggled with some of the more abstract philosophical sections. Would love to hear others’ take on what stuck with them.
