I guessed a lot of the twists pretty quickly, but I still loved the characters and their reactions. Was I missing something or did others see it coming too?

The mix of science fiction and mystery felt fresh for this age group. I'm curious whether this was a theme Haddix has explored before or a new direction for her.

The story kept me on the edge of my seat but also made me feel for the characters. Did Haddix have a specific message she wanted young readers to take away about trust or family?
