It creates such a compelling tension, but I wonder if it was inspired by real-life stories or just a classic trope that Shen wanted to explore in a new way.

The characters do some pretty questionable things, but their vulnerability made me root for them. Was that intentional to blur the lines of right and wrong?

The pacing of the romance felt really well-managed, but I’m curious whether Shen planned the progression or let the story develop naturally as she wrote.
