The story's gritty atmosphere really drew me in, but I wonder what influenced the author to choose this particular mood and setting.

The romance felt like a nice break from the tension, but I was curious if it was always meant to be a secondary element or if it evolved during writing.

I found myself hooked but also able to breathe between tense scenes. Wondering if the author planned this rhythm from the start.
