The Victorian backdrop adds so much atmosphere, but I wonder what inspired the mix of horror and fantasy in this series.

The characters often walk a fine line between right and wrong, which makes me curious about how much of that was planned versus evolving naturally.

The shift in mood in this volume felt more intense than before — was that an intentional direction from the start or did it develop during writing?
