The descriptions of Cornwall and the festival really brought the place to life. Did the author draw from personal experience or historical details?

The festive atmosphere added a unique flavor to the story, but I wonder if it also made the mystery more complex or lighthearted than usual.

While I appreciated the background, those parts felt a bit slow compared to the rest of the story. Was that intentional to build atmosphere?
