The world-building felt so immersive and gritty, making it hard to tell what was imagined versus inspired by real events. I'm curious what inspired the setting.

The distrust and betrayal added so much suspense, but I wondered if that was intentional to keep the stakes high throughout.

The choices characters made often felt morally complex, which made me think about what I would do in similar situations.
