The Defiant One

I loved how the main character challenges societal norms, but I'm curious about how much of that was inspired by real history or pure fiction.

The buildup was great, but the romance seemed to accelerate quickly at one point. Was that a pacing choice or did it develop naturally?

The setting feels authentic, but I wonder how much creative license was taken to craft the romance and character arcs.
