Valente's depiction of a hidden city beneath our own is mesmerizing. I'm curious whether this concept grew from personal experiences or literary influences.

The emotional depth of these connections really resonated with me, but I also wondered how much of that was influenced by the author's own perspective on love and identity.

The blending of the fantastical with the everyday made the themes feel more visceral, but I wonder if others felt it sometimes blurred too much, making it hard to distinguish the real from the imagined.
