The tension ramped up quickly, but I wonder if that was the author's intention or if it evolved during editing. How did others experience the story's rhythm?

The characters' motivations felt so layered and realistic. I'm curious what inspired their creation and if they were based on real people or entirely fictional.

The ending totally caught me off guard in the best way. Did anyone see it coming, or was it a complete shock for others as well?
