Cruel Summer

The contrast between the summer idyll and the horror elements really drew me in. I wonder how much of that contrast was planned from the start or evolved during writing.

The unreliable narration kept me guessing, but I kept questioning what was real. Did others find themselves doubting what they believed about the characters?

The representation felt natural and integral, not forced. I’m curious how the author balanced these themes with the suspense to make them feel authentic.
