The setting adds a gritty, almost claustrophobic atmosphere that really intensifies the story. I'm curious if the author envisioned this world from the start or if it developed during writing.

The moral ambiguity made me question what I would do in his place. It’s rare for a crime novel to so deeply explore the grey areas of morality.
