Sometimes I wondered if I was missing clues, but the slow build made the reveals more impactful. How did others interpret the characters' interactions?

The story kept me questioning what was real and what was manipulation. I'm curious whether this was planned from the start or evolved during writing.

The book builds suspense but I felt the middle sections dragged a little. Do others think this was a deliberate choice to heighten tension or just a pacing issue?
