The blend of history and fiction added layers of depth, but I wonder how much was based on research versus creative license.

It felt like a lot of background info was packed in during that part — was that necessary to build the mystery or could it have been tighter?

Jumping between past and present kept me engaged, but I’m curious whether this was planned from the start or developed during writing.
