The way the main character struggles to know who to believe added a layer of paranoia. Did that make the mystery more engaging or just frustrating?

The summer backdrop added a sense of fleeting time and warmth hiding darker secrets. I wonder if the setting was chosen for that contrast or for personal reasons.

The pacing of the reveal kept me hooked, but I’m curious whether that was planned from the start or evolved during writing to maximize suspense.
