The story feels so authentic to school life and middle-grade friendships. I'm curious what inspired the setting and plot twists.

I loved trying to piece things together but also got thrown off at times. Were those intentional misdirections or just natural surprises?

Each kid had a distinct voice and motivation. I wonder if Norma Huidobro drew from her own experiences or crafted them from scratch.
