Seeing Ella question her fairy tale life adds so much depth. I'm curious whether this perspective was always part of Haddix's plan or developed during writing.

Her desire to break free from expectations really resonated with me, but I wonder if that’s a common reaction or just me.

It felt like a story about finding your voice and challenging tradition. Does it make the fairy tale feel more modern or just different?
