The way the aliens are portrayed as both mysterious and terrifying really sticks with me. I wonder if Lumley drew from specific mythologies or science fiction tropes when creating them.

There was a stretch where the story focused heavily on character moments rather than action. I'm curious if that was a deliberate choice to deepen the emotional stakes.

The blending of genres kept things unpredictable, but I wonder what guides the author's choices in maintaining that balance without one overshadowing the other.
