The stories evoke a sense of unease and curiosity that feels very deliberate. I'm curious if the mix was planned from the start or evolved as he wrote.

Many of the tales seem to explore inner darkness and trauma. I'm wondering if this was Straub’s intention or just a coincidence.

The houses feel like characters themselves, almost alive with secrets. I'd love to know if Straub based them on real places or created them from imagination.
