The maps cover a vast world — I wonder what guided the choices of what to depict and what to leave out. Was it based on the story's focus or personal interest?

The detailed illustrations really helped me visualize Pern, but I’m curious if others felt it enhanced their understanding of the world or if it was more of a visual side note.
