RL Stine's creation of the Monster Blood concept is so iconic—I'm curious how he came up with such a fun yet creepy idea for middle graders.

The book manages to be spooky without being too intense, which is hard to do. I wonder if that was intentional to keep younger readers engaged.

Some parts felt faster and more suspenseful, while others slowed down a bit—did that help build the overall suspense or was it just the natural flow?
