Medieval Bodies

The way medieval bodies were depicted in art reflects so much about their understanding of health and mortality. I'm curious what motivated this particular focus.

Reading about bloodletting and other treatments made me wonder how much of that knowledge was based on superstition versus science. Has anyone else felt that mix of curiosity and discomfort?

It seems like art and faith were deeply intertwined when it came to understanding the human body. I'd love to hear thoughts on how these elements shaped each other.
