The sense of place really comes alive in this story. I'm curious whether the author drew from personal experience or extensive research to create this atmosphere.

The tension builds so well at the start and end, but I found the middle sections a bit slower. Was that intentional to develop characters or plot complexity?

Choosing a first-person detective narrative added intimacy but also limited the view of other characters. I wonder what led to that storytelling choice and how it influenced the story's impact.
