Robin Hobb's portrayal of the forest as a living, almost character-like presence makes the magic feel organic. I wonder what inspired this emphasis on nature’s role in shaping the mage's abilities.

The story felt full of hope but also carried a sense of loss and sacrifice. I’m curious if others picked up on that emotional layer and how it impacted their reading experience.

Some parts felt leisurely, allowing for rich world-building, but I wondered if the pacing might slow down for others or if it was deliberate to deepen immersion.
