The earthquake feels so vivid and real — I wonder if the author based it on personal experience or research. How did they decide to portray such a powerful natural event for middle-grade readers?

The tension was so well done that I genuinely worried about their safety. I'm curious if the author aimed for that level of suspense intentionally or if it just came naturally.
