The backstory adds emotional depth to the investigation, but I wonder how much of it was planned from the start versus developed during writing.

While the tension ramped up again later, those slower sections made me curious if they were meant to build character or suspense.

The suspense is palpable, yet it feels more psychological than visceral. I’d love to hear thoughts on how the author balances this.
