The gritty atmosphere and dangerous characters really drew me in, but I wonder what inspired Kate King's choice to set the story in this kind of environment.

The chemistry was electric but also layered with danger and mistrust. I’m curious how others felt about the balance between romance and darkness.

The push and pull felt so visceral, almost like the stakes were constantly rising. Wondering if this was a conscious choice or evolved naturally during writing.
