The snow and cold felt almost like an active force shaping the story. I'm curious if Patrick Ness envisioned the environment this way from the start or developed it during writing.

Some decisions felt ethically gray, which made me wonder how much of their actions were driven by survival versus personal belief. Would love to hear others' thoughts.

There were moments that felt slow but necessary for atmosphere, while others ramped up quickly. Was this intentional to mirror the harsh environment?
