There was such a mix of hope and hesitation that made me wonder how readers personally felt about trusting again after heartbreak. Did anyone else find themselves cheering or hesitating along with the characters?

The way the characters' worlds kept colliding felt very believable, but I wonder if the author planned this dynamic from the start or if it evolved organically during writing.
