Thomas’s First Memory of the Flare

Seeing the event from his earliest perspective adds so much depth. I wonder if this was planned from the start or developed during the writing process.

His fight to hold onto his memories really made me reflect on how much our identity depends on them. Did others feel similarly affected?

The shorter length kept the tension tight, but I’m curious whether the story would’ve felt different as a full novel. What do others think?
