The Reluctant Duke's Dilemma

The character's struggle felt very authentic, but I wonder how much of that was based on historical research versus the author's personal insights.

While I enjoyed the character development, those sections felt a bit dense. Was that intentional to build tension or a pacing choice?

The descriptions really brought the world to life, and I’d love to know what inspired the specific locations and social customs portrayed.
