The book covers so much ground, from ancient times to modern China. I'm curious how the author chose which moments to highlight and how he balanced accuracy with storytelling.

The multiple generations made the story feel vast and layered, but I sometimes struggled to remember who was who. Did others find the family trees helpful or overwhelming?
