The blend of dark romance and fantasy feels seamless, but I wonder how much of that was planned versus developed during writing. Did the world evolve with the romance or vice versa?

The emotional tension from their pasts added depth, but at times it felt like the pacing slowed. Was that intentional to deepen character development?

The characters' darker sides made them intriguing, but I’m curious if Kait Ballenger set out to challenge typical hero/villain tropes from the start.
