Given the vastness of Norse mythology, I’m curious how Gaiman chose which stories to retell and which to leave out. Did he aim for a specific narrative focus or try to balance different sources?

His tone balances respect for the myths with his signature wit, making the gods feel both grand and accessible. Was that contrast intentional or just how he naturally writes?
