The story moves quickly but also gives depth to the characters' motivations. I'm curious how this balance was planned from the start.

While the villain is clearly evil, I wondered if there was more to their backstory that wasn't explored. Was that a deliberate choice?

Every city and culture feels so fleshed out, but I wonder if the world grew organically during writing or if there was a detailed outline.
