The island's atmosphere plays a huge role in the story, but I'm curious if it was inspired by real locations or pure imagination.

I felt like the story took its time to develop characters and atmosphere, which made the suspense feel more real. Was that a conscious choice?

The way clues are revealed kept me guessing, but I wonder if the author planned out the puzzle beforehand or discovered it while writing.
