Reynolds masterfully blends complex science with emotional depth, but I wonder what guided his choices to prioritize one over the other at different points.

The scientific descriptions added authenticity but sometimes made the story feel a bit sluggish. Was that intentional to build realism, or could it have been tighter?

The universe feels so plausible yet imaginative. I’m curious whether real science inspired the world-building or if it was primarily a creative construct.
