The atmospheric setting adds so much to the mood of the story. I wonder if the location was chosen to reflect the characters' social tensions or for other reasons.

While the detective work was compelling, some parts felt a bit slower than the rest. Was this intentional to build suspense or just a natural part of the investigation process?
