The world-building felt so rich and immersive—I'm curious whether the author developed the mythology first or let the story shape it.

I found myself rooting for them through all the ups and downs, but at times the emotional stakes felt surprisingly intense for a middle-grade book.

The pacing kept me engaged, but I appreciated those quiet scenes that made the loss feel more real. I wonder if that was a deliberate choice to deepen the story.
