Hell Gate

The gritty New York City backdrop adds so much atmosphere — I wonder if the author based it on real places or crafted it from imagination.

The story had me hooked at the start, but the middle seemed a bit slow — I'm curious if that was intentional to develop characters or plot.

Sometimes crime thrillers focus so much on plot that the characters feel flat — this one seemed to give both space. Did anyone else notice that?
