I’ve always wondered what inspired the way Charlie’s powers are described and how they develop throughout the story. Did she envision a specific kind of magic when writing this?

The beast felt complex and a bit sympathetic at times, which made me wonder if there’s more to its story. What did others think about its role in the story?

The world feels so vivid and detailed, I’m curious whether Jenny Nimmo based it on real locations or if it was entirely imagined from scratch.
