The Original Illustrated Sherlock Holmes

The artwork adds so much character to Holmes and Watson — I wonder how much input the illustrator had or if it was all Doyle's vision.

Some mysteries had me on the edge of my seat, while others felt more leisurely. Was this intentional to reflect different types of cases?

Holmes' methods are clever but sometimes questionable. Do readers see him more as a hero or an antihero in modern times?
