The vivid descriptions of France really brought the story to life for me. I'm curious if the location was chosen to mirror the emotional landscape or if it was just a personal favorite of the author.

The transitions into past events added depth but also made me pause. I'm wondering if this was a deliberate choice to build tension or to give more weight to the characters' backstories.
