The atmospheric locale feels almost like a character itself. I'm curious whether the author based it on a real place or created it from imagination.

The moral ambiguity adds depth but also made me wonder how much the author intended us to root for certain characters.

The multiple viewpoints kept the story dynamic, but I wonder if that structure was planned from the start or developed during writing.
