Vance's setting feels so richly imagined and unique. I'm curious whether he drew from existing mythologies or built it entirely from his own creativity.

Rhialto's actions felt both clever and morally ambiguous. I wonder how readers interpret his sense of honor and self-interest.

I'm new to Vance's universe and would love to know if this book stands alone or if it’s best enjoyed with prior knowledge of the series.
