The way the main character wrestles with right and wrong made me think about how far someone will go in pursuit of justice. Did this make the story feel more real or just more stressful?

The intense atmosphere and vivid descriptions really drew me in, but I wonder if the setting was based on real places or entirely fictional. How did that choice influence the story’s tone?
