I'm curious about how the author chose this particular setting and time period. Was it based on real history or purely fictional worlds?

The characters' loyalty and wit made the story engaging, but I wondered if that made me overlook some of their flaws.

There were plenty of tense moments, but I also appreciated the quieter scenes. Did the pacing feel natural or a bit uneven?
