The story has some funny moments but also serious stakes — I wonder how much of that was planned from the start or evolved naturally.

The kids’ fears and bravery seemed very genuine to me. Did others find themselves relating to their responses or wishing for more bravery?

The aliens felt unique but believable within the story’s universe. I'm curious whether the author envisioned this world from the beginning or developed it as they wrote.
